the sad thing, i bought a box of 100!!! there was also diamante quik lites there, i knew i should've got those. you could just tell the rollands are going to be bad when the owner of the store said, "oh.... those................ $8.99 please"

not going to use these rolland's with my friend tonight, i cant subject a guest to such a awful experience haha.. i still have a couple of the japanese style coals luckily, should be enough to get by.

LOL PB I know how you feel. I have 99 of them (I light one and it smelled awful even after it ashed over and I drowned it with water and used a Pharoah's Elite QL instead) and all I want is shipping cost to send them out. They are the Tangiers of quick light charcoals. LOL

hookah coal is pretty expensive in the US. In cyprus Vivi coal (imported from egypt) costs $2.30 per 1/2 kilo and quicklights (for hookah, not the cheap ones) go for $4.50 per 150 box.
I can see that most prices in the US are above 8 dollars per 500 grams.

Well, thanks for posting the review, the negatives are even more important then the positives, so we can all know what rocks and what sucks! What to buy and what to steer clear of.

BTW, sorry once again for your purchase, you must have missed out on reading the reviews for quicklights

Its unfortunate what impulse buys do to us.

For quicklights, stick to 3Kings or Starlights

For Naturals, there are tons that are good, Exoticas being the best.

Before you throw them in a fire or grill, make sure you put your tin foil hat on to protect yourself! If you need to know how to make one refer to this thread here http://www.hookahpro.com/forums/inde...sg7379#msg7379

um.... btw. VIVI coals are just as bad as rolands.

They suck and stay away from them. They are natural finger coals. They make your house smell like it's on fire, and they take forever and a day to light , they ash a weird color (like grayish green) and they ash a heck of a lot, and they don't have a long burn time.. BARF. AND 3 eagles quick lights too (Same problems as vivi coals, but they are quick lights)....... BARF BARF BARF

I disagree about the vivi coal. They are hookah coal from egypt and are one of the best i tried.. you have to let them light up completelty before you place them on your bowl.
If you dont let them get humid they are great. But if you do, (you or the vendor selling them...) they give off a nasty smell while lighting up and take 10mins+ to light up.
As for green ash... what to say. i used them for more than a year and never happened to me b4

i know man haha, but i did it in reverse order -

1. buy bad coals
2. read review
3. palm to forehead

rather than -

1. read reviews
2. dont buy bad coals
3. feel good

baby steps.. baby steps.. anyways, i found the perfect coals for me:

i had 2 rolls of these when i bought my hookah, but the brand wasnt on the wrapping until i found out today they were nakhlas.. these ones light within a second, there is a cloud of smoke when its first being lit but that goes away in 10 seconds. these last for a long time - ones good enough. cant taste the charcoal either and the ash isnt too bad.

do what i do when i get crappy coals. put them in a pile and LIGHT THEM UP. you will have a nice bonfire for a little while and if they actually do light up like they are supposed to being a QL you will have one hell of a lightup session just remember to light as many of the bottom ones as possible with a torch
