Default starbuzz=clouds??

ok so i see this all the time and wtf is everyone talking about, i never get clouds with SB or else the flavors die and i mean that the smoke is not thick at all, less than nakhla by a long shot, is it just that im using citrus mist and blue mist.

im using 2 coals usually (coco style coals) some times i start it with 3 to get it going faster and then drop the 3rd until the coals burn down a little, with 1hd, 1 or 2 heavy strength, 1 or 2 regular foil i always have the issue that once a reasonable amount of smoke comes the flavor gets weird. im fluffing it in and leaving a gap so wtf. is it just that those flavors are like that or what?

and cause i know it turns in to a flavor/cloud pissing match, i hold flavor over clouds but i like reasonable clouds because usually there is more flavor with them

Have you tried to use a wind cover? Sometimes that helps.

ya it is really just that the smoke: flavor ratio is always like this, not really sure, i think it may just be the flavors are like that

apparently ur setup is not right .... maybe the bowl is overpacked, there is a leak somewhere, foil is touching the tobacco, stem is blocked, too much water .....etc.

I believe tobacco is definitely not the culprit. Sometimes I have TOO MUCH clouds with SB and AF !

i can smoke tangiers, af, nakhla, al waha all through the same set up with no issues so i must just be packing it wrong, i will have to try and fluff it even more, maybe the bowl just doesnt get along with it, my friend smokes it out of deeper bowls and has good luck. but maybe the mod bowl is just not good for it

yea you could try a deeper bowl and see if that helps. Just try to pack the bowl a little better and see if that fixes your problem.

You're probably packing it wrong or having some bad heat management. Later tonight Ill take some pictures of myself packing SB and PM them to you.
Both of those flavors routinely produce massive flavor / smoke for me. I'll make sure to pack some Citrus Mist tonight.

SB gives massive clouds. But I don't smoke for clouds, so I don't really smoke much SB. The flavors I do smoke have very thick smoke, and it's always been like that. Actually most brands I have smoked have pretty thick smoke.

And I know you have been smoking for quite a while, so this is pretty perplexing to say the least!

thanks guys,

those that have it working well are you really fluffing it or what? maybe i need to pull it apart more since the pieces of tobacco are a little larger than some other brands

I dont really fluff mine at all, I use probably 25-30g in a tangiers small phunnel and tamp it down a bit.

Honestly I just pack it in, I do leave it a bit springy, but never over the top of the bowl. It sits a tiny bit under the rim of the bowl, and I do pick apart the large masses of leaves. I have always though SB fits very well into a phunnel bowl. I use about 15 grams in a Phunnel + Mod and it always outlasts the coals by about 40 minutes.

starbuzz has always given me great clouds no matter the flavor. try packing your bowl differently and/or use wind cover.

maybe you have to many holes in your foil? could be to much air getting in and not letting it heat enough

ya but the issue that im finding is that its not that theres not enough heat because when it gets hotter it loses flavor

Tangiers, nakhla and alwaha like touching the foil. starbuzz doesnt. try to pack it a bit lower. And use about the same amount of coals. I always find that starbuzz also clogs the bowls hole easlily so make sure their is some clearance for air in the hole.

~smacks self in head~ your right shishaholiC there was a leak at the bowl grommet, im using a mod bowl on my mya mini acrylic and the bowl would go all the way down to the tray but i thought it was sealing fine, figured out it was not fully sealed there so i put some tooth pick there for now to push the grommet up higher to seal better, i bent some aluminum wire that im going to use to make a more permanent fix just have to bend it to shape of the stem (i zig zagged it up and down a little so it gave the right height so it will work fine). ill try it later with starbuzz, probably in the next few days, pissed i didnt realize this before but o well, at least i am getting better smoke even from nakhla which i was getting a good smoke out of before, thanks for suggesting the obvious, i wouldnt have really looked there since i though it was all good
