Default Glycerine - safe?

Hi just recieved some Glycerine today, which i bought from ebay. Its 100% vegetable based glycerine. It says on the bottle Glycerine (Glycerol) C2H8O3 Technical Food Grade (Kosher) but at the side it's got a big cross and says IRRITANT - avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe vapour. Is this safe?

WE can now confirm that this is 100% Natural vegetable based glycerine. Our supplier has provided us with a specification sheet confirming the composition.
Should be safe from what it says in the quote from the ebay link.

did u happen to nitice that it says propane on there? I wouldn't it..i'd try to get my money back..and a reason why it may say do not ingest is because if you inhale something the equivalant to a sugar cube worth of sugar can be dangerous to your lungs because of crystalization ....but go to your local supermarket and or food sore, health food store ect. and ask them what they have as far as of glyseryne

Glycerine is greatly hygroscopic. that means it absorbs water and if undiluted glycerin is applied to the skin or body it sucks the moisture out of you. Causes burns essentially. But also understand that diluted it is used as a skin softener in lotions and other products.

I'd ask for a copy of that specification sheet that they talk about.

that looks like it is the right stuff, it might have the irritant warning on it because if it was synthetic it would be an irritant ( it was some weird thing that the synthetic is slightly different and instead of doing what natural glycerine does it can irritate)

as to it being diluted, it says 50/50 with water to apply topically.

if it is food grade it should be good, but getting the MSDS (material safety data sheet) would be good either way

Haha, no way, if it is glycerine that is harmful to eyes and skin, I would not use it in shisha. he glycerin you should use is food grade, vegetable base, and is used as a moisturizer for skin...

I bought a bottle of glycerine at Michael's (Craft and Art Supply) for 2 bucks. 100% veggie based. Put 2tbsp into about 100g of really dry Nakhla Mandarin and the stuff was WET. Huge clouds.

I don't think i would use it if it had all those warnings on it!! could be really bad for you!
you should just go to a supermarket or health food store and ask for 100% vegetable glycerine its not wort th trying it if you are not 100% sure that it is the right kind of glycerine!
